Trauma sensitive yoga (TCTSY) and Fierce Grace Yoga

Whilst working therapeutically, I found myself more drawn to the body and how much the body holds that the mind cannot quite touch. I had began practicing yoga myself and wanted to find a way to marry the two which lead me to the "Trauma Sensitive Trauma Centre" training. This training was developed by Dr. Bessel Van Der Kolk and David Emmerson who together found through their research at the Trauma Centre in Boston, the benefits of yoga in working with trauma. Following this training, I decided to train to also be a yoga teacher.

I am a fully trained and qualified Yoga Teacher (YAReg) and offer both Trauma Sensitive Yoga and one on one Yoga classes.

I believe the body carries a lot of our unconscious where our emotions may be locked, remaining unprocessed. These can be difficult to access solely through the mind and through addressing the body one can work towards making changes in calming the mind whilst releasing locked up emotions. There are times when no matter how much we make sense of how we feel using our minds, those feelings persist as if they go untouched. The body carries a lot of those emotions we are not aware of and I have personally found Yoga to be a great adjunct to have alongside therapy as part of a healing process. It is from this place that I offer Yoga to you.

Fierce Grace Yoga is an integrative approach that draws on Bikram, Ahstanga, Hatha and Power Yoga. This unique system integrates masculine and feminine, working on strength and flexibility and is accessible to all, from beginners who have never practiced yoga before to those who have years of experience and can be practiced by all ages.
